Yesterday we did 11 surgeries-mostly pediatrics-4 hernias, 1 orchidopexy, 1 branchial cleft cyst. 1 hemangioma as well as a C-section, thyroidectomy, D&C and an enterocutaneous fistula. A busy day as we also had a surgical clinic between cases.
Our young boy with the above knee amputation is doing well. He is asking for a leg prosthesis. I will try to arrange this when I get home.
Today we saw a terrible case of advanced breast cancer. We will try some chemotherapy but I doubt it will help. As we have discussed before, the Nigerian ladies often present very late, either due to fear or ignorance of the disease. This situation is slowly improving.
