SURGERY DAY 4-JET LAG

This blog is delayed due to internet connectivity or lack thereof. Imagine being in a place where you can't connect to the internet. Yesterday the electricity went off about 5 times. Fortunately, we have a new inverter system in the OR which immediately kicks in when the power goes off-so we maintain light. However, it doesn't have enough juice to run the AC so things get hot fast.

Today we did 7 surgeries including an abdominal perineal resection for rectal cancer, a branchial cleft cyst, an inguinal hernia, a neck biopsy, a ventral hernia, a lymph node biopsy, excision of an abdominal wall mass, and an expoloratory laparotomy for a retroperitoneal tumor.

We have done 30 cases to date. There are 24 cases waiting for surgery. I am still very tired from jet lag and operating. Today is Nigeria Independence day-51 years.
